How to resolve the 0x800f0818 error: .NET Framework 3.5 installation issue in Windows Server 2008 R2

Follow these steps to resolve the error code 0x800f0818 when installing .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows Server 2008 R2:

  1. Ensure the .NET Framework 3.5 feature is activated in Windows Server 2008 R2. Go to Server Manager > Features > .NET Framework 3.5. If it’s not active, enable it and retry the installation.
  2. Verify the availability of the installation source. This could be a DVD or an ISO file. Ensure it is accessible and available.
  3. Check for any pending updates or restarts on the server. Install any updates and restart the server if needed.
  4. Attempt to install .NET Framework 3.5 using the DISM command. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following command:

    Replace drive with the letter of the installation source drive.
